20 Unbeaten as Gills Grind Out Another 1-0 Win

Get in! The run just keeps on going. We’ve equalled the 50-year-old club record with a massive 1-0 win over Notts County at Priestfield, making it 20 league games unbeaten.
It was a proper gritty, hard-fought victory that keeps us joint-top of League Two and maintains our 100% winning record at home this season. It wasn’t always pretty, but right now, who cares? Three points are three points.
Another Classic 1-0 to the Gills
Andrews netts on the 46th Minute - from GillsinthebloodGiullG
Notts County came to our place on a decent run themselves, with 10 points from their last four games and the league’s top scorer, Matty Dennis, up front. But we completely shut them down.
The winner came right out of the traps in the second half, barely a minute after the restart. Remeao Hutton put in a brilliant cross from the right and Josh Andrews was there to meet it, heading it right into the bottom corner. It was his second goal in as many games and it sent the Rainham End absolutely mental.
From that moment on, it was a classic Gills defensive performance. Notts County just couldn’t find a way through. Think about this: a team with all that firepower didn't manage a single shot on target until the 87th minute, and even that was a tame effort that Glenn Morris gathered easily. Their gaffer, Martin Paterson, said he was “absolutely livid” with how they gave up the goal, which shows you how one moment of quality from us was enough to settle it.
Gareth Ainsworth has now been in charge for 17 games and is still undefeated. He talked about the lads putting their “bodies on the line,” and you could see it. We were missing three key midfielders but everyone who came in did their job. It was a real team performance built on pure grit.
TWENTY GAMES UNDEFEATED!!
As 1-0 wins go, that was as comfortable as it gets. It was Hugely impressive without both Little and Coleman. Mckenzie again showed how fantastically versatile he is. Our pressing under Ainsworth is just out of this world. Roll on Newport next week. #Gills

The feeling online after the final whistle was absolutely buzzing. GillsInTheBlood summed up the mood with a simple "TWENTY GAMES UNDEFEATED!!" and called it another "proper team performance."
That was the common feeling all round. Ian Champ (@Champ_GFC74) said, "As 1-0 wins go, that was as comfortable as it gets," pointing out how "hugely impressive" it was to do it without both Little and Coleman in the side.
What really stood out for everyone was the work rate. Blue Brazil (@BlueBrazil1975) nailed it, saying we "defended from the front" and never allowed County to settle. That high-energy system is becoming our trademark, with Ian Champ adding that our "pressing under Ainsworth is just out of this world."
It was also great to see a few players who've had some criticism getting the praise they deserved. Blue Brazil gave a shout-out to Hutton, goalscorer Andrews, and Robbie McKenzie, who showed his fantastic versatility once again.
Ultimately, everyone felt this was a "bit of a statement win." We're "serving notice to the league that this year isn’t a flash in the pan."
German Gills Man of the Match: Jonny Williams

And while it was a massive team effort, at the heart of it was one man who ran the show in midfield. On a day when we needed to be solid and organised, Jonny Williams gave a masterclass. He protected the back four brilliantly, read the game perfectly, and never stopped working. His experience and quality were plain to see and he was the main reason Notts County’s attack never got going. A proper Man of the Match performance.
This victory was massive. Equalling a record that’s stood since the 1973/74 season shows just how far we’ve come. We’ve built an identity on being solid, tough to beat, and clinical when it matters.
We’re the 1-0 specialists, and if that’s what it takes to stay at the top of the table, we’ll take it every single week. The belief is huge right now. As the fans are saying, "Roll on Newport next week."
